Enjoy #Essence Fest and Experience New Orleans

Here’s some things you may want to fit into Essence Festival Schedule.

For the Conscious-Minded and Early Riser

MAAFA Celebration (Remember the Middle Passage)
July 4 th 7AM (Yes, you read that right).

MAAFA is a Kiswahili word that means “great tragedy” or “horrific tragedy,” referring to the period called the Middle Passage or Transatlantic Slave Trade. There will be singing and drumming. Get your camera ready! You’ll get pictures and sounds here you won’t get anywhere else. More importantly— pay homage to our ancestors. You can go to this and be on time for all the Essence Fest day events.

For the Hip- Hop Head

Saturday, July 5th 11pm
Questlove and New Orleans’ Soul Sister will spin turntables at Tipitina’s
Tickets $25 in advance, $27 at the door.
I’m sure you can enjoy the mainstage at Essence until the end and then head over to the party.

I’m looking forward to this year’s essence fest. This is the first time in a long time that I don’t have to leave to go out of town.
